The Institute

Every standard needs a keeper.

The Mindful Diving Institute is the standards, research and training body of Mindful Diving™, established by the World Happiness Foundation. It exists so that a diver in the Canary Islands and a diver in the Red Sea meet the same practice, held to the same evidence.

What the Institute does

Holds the curriculum

Writes, versions and publishes the standard and its teaching materials.

Certifies people and centers

Issues the five diver levels and the three Mindful Diving Center™ seal tiers.

Audits Gold tier

Conducts independent, on-site assessment for reference centers.

Runs the research programme

Coordinates measurement, ethics review and academic collaboration.

Publishes the annual report

Anonymised outcomes across the network, released once a year.

The ecosystem behind the standard.

A standard is only as strong as the institutions that hold it.

These bodies advise and anchor the Institute; the Institute holds the standard.

Governance

Three councils hold the standard. All are now forming; advisory invitations are open.

Standards Council

Owns the curriculum, the seven-pillar rubric and the certification requirements.

Safety & Dive Medicine Board

Reviews every practice against diving physiology and agency safety standards. Nothing reaches a diver without its sign-off.

Research Council

Designs the measurement programme, reviews ethics and oversees publication.

Advisory invitations are open

We are seeking experts in dive medicine, contemplative science, marine conservation and the diving industry to join the councils shaping this standard.

Open standard, protected marks

The framework is published openly: anyone may read the seven pillars, the practice arc and the safety rules, and any center may improve because of them. The seals and credentials are another matter — Mindful Diving Center™, the five diver levels and the Instructor Academy marks are awarded only by the Institute, and only after assessment. That is what keeps the mark worth carrying.
